Arvid Nilsson - Magento 1 to Magento 2 Migration

The challenges

With 4 thousand customers and 35+ thousand products with numerous attributes for each product (name, color, size...) Arvid Nilsson needed a custom solution adapted to their business model. 

Arvid Nilsson used SAP as an ERP system, storing information about customers and products (price and quantity), and for product storage and control, they used the PIM C4 system connected with Magento. 

The old system was Magento 1 and was soon to reach its end of life, and the company decided to invest in a new solution. At this point, they needed a reliable partner to lead their discovery process and consult them about the best option for their business needs. 

To improve customer experience and optimize the webshop, Arvid Nilsson wanted: integration with Azure for file searches, custom search, and custom checkout. 

The solution

The first step in our collaboration was the discovery process and the system understanding. 

After we analyzed the current system and needs of Arvid Nilsson, we agreed that the best solution is the Magento shop with custom modules that communicate with new SAP and PIM C4. 

ZenDev implemented a new design and created 20+ custom APIs for communication between the different systems.

We stored data in Azure, and along with deployment, we set up the dockerization of the database and the elastic search service, accelerating the speed of page opening and data searching. 

All changes speeded up indexing,  and what took days before now is reduced to 2 minutes. In addition, the storage of media files on Azure Blop storage allowed the opening of high-resolution images immediately. 

Now we are doing maintenance, consulting about possible improvements, and developing new functionalities.
